You have to be reasonably healthy to handle a detox diet, especially if you are considering one of the more extreme detox diets, like a detox juice fast or a 21-day detox program. But no matter which detox diet you eventually choose, you will help your cause greatly by using a sample detox diet to let you prepare in advance the foods you’ll be eating through your detox program.

Having the guidance of a sample detox diet is one safeguard against your diving into the temptation of unhealthy junk or fast foods in the middle of your detox program, when you’ll be subsisting on organic fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Looking At A Sample Detox Diet

The typical sample detox diet has you beginning each day with an eight ounce glass of purified water into which you have squeezed the juice of half a fresh lemon. You will follow this “lemonade” with fresh organic fruit of your choice eaten fifteen and thirty minutes before your “real” breakfast, so that you help your digestive system prepare for what’s coming.

For your breakfast on a sample detox diet you can have any whole grains except wheat or corn. Try buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, or brown rice for variety, because any one of them is rich in fiber and will fill you up while cleansing your digestive tract.

Your sample detox diet will let you have a mid morning snack of fresh fruit, so why not go with what’s seasonal? Fresh berries or watermelon are wonderful in the summer, as are apples in the fall. Whatever food you eat on your sample detox diet should be thoroughly chewed, so that your hunger pangs will be satisfied.

And for as long as you follow your sample detox diet, drink at least eight eight-ounce glasses of purified water each day, as well as all the freshly squeezed organic fruit and veggie juices, and herbal teas, as you can manage.

Pizza Recipes Without Tomato Sauce

Many people will never make tomato sauce because they think it is too difficult. I would like to talk to you today about meat sauce. It is the meat sauce that I grew up on and will rival any. It is a simple recipe, but it is awesome.

First, you need the following:
1 – 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes
1 – small can of tomato paste
6 – fresh garlic cloves
1 – 1 lbs Hamburger, Italian Sausage, or both
1 – handful flat leaf parsley
1 – 5 or 6 Basil Leaves
Salt, Pepper, Olive Oil and Red Wine (Optional)

In a Pot, place a small amount of olive oil. Place on top of the stove at medium heat. Chop the garlic and sauté until golden brown. Remove from the pot and place the hamburger or sausage or both along with ½ of the parsley and basil at medium/high. Cook until golden brown and remove from the pot. Pour in a cup of red wine. Scrape the bits off of the bottom.

When the wine is almost completely evaporated, place the Garlic, Tomatoes and Tomato Paste into the pot. Most Important Step – place a Tomato and Tomato Paste can filled with water into the pot. Raise the heat to high. When it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to a simmer, add a pinch or two of salt and pepper. While at a low simmer, partially cover the pot. After 25 minutes a simmering, add the meat and simmer for another 35 minutes. If the sauce gets too thick, you can add a little bit of water. The sauce is done after one hour. Add the remaining parsley and basil. To make more, just double or triple the ingredients

That is pretty much it. You can vary this recipe. Make sure you dunk a piece of Italian Bread into the pot to taste the sauce as it cooks. It is the Italian way!

Why You Should Make Your Own Pizza

Pizza is a universal food. Originally confined to Italian neighborhoods, pizza has now become mainstream. Travel anywhere in the world and you will be able to find some type of pizza.

As noted bread baker Peter Reinhart explained to me: “Pizza is the perfect flavor delivery system.” Pizza is the ultimate comfort food.

With a little practice, you can easily make your own delicious home made pizza.

Here are four reasons why you should make your own pizza.

1)Making pizza is easy. With the basic tools found in any kitchen, you will be able to make pizza dough. All pizza dough follows the same basic pattern. Mix flour with yeast, water and salt. Some pizza dough recipes call for oil, however this may be omitted. (I use olive oil in my recipe, but this is a matter of preference.) There are many wonderful pizza dough recipes available to you. You need to find one that you like and will satisfy your own taste.

2)Making pizza is healthy. Since you are making your own pizza, you have total control over the ingredients used. I encourage you to use the freshest ingredients available. The old standards, pepperoni, sausage, tomato sauce, and various cheeses, like mozzarella, make excellent toppings for pizza. There are many vegetables that can be used for pizza as well, including fresh garlic, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, onions, mushrooms and zucchini. Fresh seafood such as shrimp and clams can also compliment your pizza. Experiment. You will create new taste sensations. You are only limited to your imagination when deciding what to put on your pizza.

3)You will save lots of money. You will be amazed at how economical it is to make your own pizza. The actual price of putting together a quality pizza at home is much cheaper than buying pizza at a pizzeria. One way to save money is by purchasing ingredients on sale. You can multiply your savings by obtaining items in bulk at a food discount warehouse. For example some items like mozzarella cheese can be purchased in bulk. Use what you need, and freeze the rest to be used the next time you make pizza. The savings of buying your pizza ingredients in bulk is substantial.

4)Making pizza is fun. Pizza can be a wonderful group activity. When you make pizza, you can get everyone around you involved in some part of the process. Pizza is also an enjoyable family activity. All kids love making pizza. Pizza is a fun activity which can be enjoyed not only by families but by singles as well. When you make pizza, you make magic happen.

Still not convinced you can make your own pizza? Here are some steps you can take to painlessly, create your own pizza. Start with a frozen pizza shell purchased at a supermarket. This is a good way to begin to learn how to make your own pizza. You are in complete control of what toppings you will use.

The next step is to purchase fresh pizza dough from a bakery or pizzeria. This will give you good experience in working with dough and shaping your pizza. Making pizza like this will allow you invaluable experience.

Finally, you can try making your own dough from scratch. Making dough may seem difficult at first, but will get easier and easier over time.

Without much effort, you will be making healthy pizza, saving money and having a lot of fun. The hardest part of making pizza is the clean-up.

Dog Food Recipes

People assume that all dog food recipes are the same. This cannot be further from the truth. Many dogs are allergic to one thing or another. You will want to be sure that your dog has no known food allergies and that each new recipe you try there is no adverse reaction. That is one of the benefits of making your own dog food. You can change the ingredients to accommodate your dog’s needs. Long gone are the days where you had to buy an expensive specialty food that is of no better quality than what you buy locally from your vet if you have a sick or allergic dog. You can do it all from home and save your wallet.

What You Can Use

There are so many types of foods you can use in your dog food recipes. Dogs can eat Chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, some liver, and some types of fish. Vegetables for dogs include carrots, broccoli, green beans, peas, and squash. The best fillers to add fiber and extra carbohydrates to your dog’s diet are brown rice and oats. These are preferred over corn any day as they actually have nutritional value for your dog. The type and consistency of the foods will all depend on what recipe you use. Each one will call for a different type of method and food list. Even the most difficult of dog food recipes are easy to use and not time consuming to make.

Easy Chicken Recipe

If you think it will be hard to make your dog his food at home, try a good crock pot chicken recipe. Put five pounds of chicken into your crock pot and add enough water to completely cover the chicken. Add in half a large bag of brown rice and cook till soft. After the chicken is fully cooked, add a cup of oats. The best part of this recipe is that you can set it up before work in the morning, leave it in the crock pot on low all day, add the oats when you get home, and serve. This recipe will feed an average sized dog for about three days. If you want more than this recipe calls for, just double or triple the ingredients. Make sure if you make more than three days worth you store it in the freezer.

Hamburger Helper For Dogs

Hamburger is one the biggest ingredients in dog food recipes. Everyone wants to give their pup some real beef. This is an easy to prepare recipe that can be used any time. As with any other type of food, make sure to use it all in three days or freeze after preparation. Take one pound of ground beef and brown it in a bit of canola oil. Add 2 chopped and cooled boiled eggs, half of a cup of warm plain oatmeal, and two table spoons of plain small curd cottage cheese. Last add a jar of stage 2 baby food carrot and a jar of stage 2 baby food green beans.

Pizza Recipes With Quick Dry Yeast

Do you wish you had more time in the kitchen or more energy left over at the end of the day so you could prepare a delicious, nutritious, and satisfying meal for your family? Well, lots of working parents feel that way; sometimes it just seems so much easier to pop a frozen dinner into the microwave, order a pizza, or run into the drive-thru on the way home, but we all know that those kind of meals are neither good for you nor all that satisfying, and they don’t really promote meal time as a special time for the family to gather.

The good news, however, that you really don’t need to spend hours in the kitchen to prepare a delightful meal that everyone will enjoy. There are lots of quick easy chicken recipes, for example, that can be prepared in a short amount of time and will taste delicious and make a nice meal for your family. Chicken is very versatile and can be prepared a lot of different ways.

My favorite quick easy chicken recipe involves boneless breasts and Italian salad dressing. All you need to do is take five minutes before you leave the house in the morning to get your chicken started. Simply poke some holes in the breasts and cover them with the dressing and leave them in a flat baking dish in the fridge to marinate.

When you get home at night, simply roll the breasts in a mixture of flour, grated parmesan cheese out of the can, and Italian bread crumbs, and then place them on a tray or in a shallow pan and bake them in the oven for about half an hour.

While they are getting tasty in the oven, prepare a nice salad using bagged lettuce and some tomatoes and cucumbers and put one of those steam-in-the-bag bags of broccoli or green beans in the microwave and season them with some butter and salt and pepper.

In half an hour, you have a delicious, quick, easy chicken recipe that the whole family can enjoy around the table.

Pizza Recipes For Kids

Finding recipes for kids lunch boxes can be tricky. Most parents just reheat last night’s dinner left overs and send their kids on their way. Lunch is a pretty important meal during a child’s day, though, so if you have more time to think about and make what your kids will be taking to lunch at school, put in the extra effort. Making sure your kids are eating right in the middle of the day will definitely pay off in the future! Here are four recipes for kids lunch boxes:

· Tortilla Wrap

This is easy to do, and you can still use the leftovers! Wrap some meat and vegetables in a tortilla. You can add salsa, cheese, and/or sour cream if you like. Brown rice and beans are good additions too! Roll it up and put it in a sandwich bag or you can wrap it up in foil so it’s easy to hold. It’s a no fuss recipe that most kids will love, and it covers four of the five major food groups. Plus, you’re sure it’ll be healthier than anything your child can but at the school cafeteria!

· Chicken Salad Sandwich

Put some chopped chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber between slices of whole wheat bread. You can add cheese or salad dressing to this sandwich to make it yummier and more appealing. Remember that you don’t have to use chicken. You can substitute chicken for tuna, sliced beef, or sliced turkey. Almost any member of the protein group will go well with this sandwich, and so you can actually mix it up and have a different one everyday!

· Meatball Sub

Grab a mini baguette and line it with mustard (if your kid likes mustard), mayonnaise, cheese, tomatoes, and pickles. Put in some meatballs cooked in tomato sauce (you can use the leftovers from the spaghetti and meatballs you served the other night), and top it off with some sour cream. Wrap this well in a sandwich wrapper or foil, and your kid is ready to go!

· Croquettes

This recipe takes a bit more time to prepare. You can do the prep for it the night before, and just do the frying on the morning you’re going to pack it. While frying isn’t the healthiest form of cooking because of the excessive oil, croquettes are easy finger foods for kids. You can shape them into ping pong balls to make them easier to eat. Stuff them with mashed potatoes, tuna, turkey, or other healthy proteins. You can also just stuff them with bechamel and cheese, and your kids are in for a tasty treat!

Always try to put in a juice box and fruit cup into the lunch box apart from the above suggestions. Yogurt and granola bars can also work as a sweet snack. Ask your children what “extras” they’d like in their lunch boxes and keep them healthy!

Pizza Recipes

Pizza is one of those foods that when you get a craving for it nothing else will do. You can always get one delivered, but there is so much more satisfaction in making your own dough and stretching it, topping it, and baking it. This recipe makes two great tasting, thin crust bases.

Ingredients (makes 2 pizzas)

• 300g White Flour – 1.5 cups
• 200ml Water – 4/5 of a cup
• 8g Instant Dried Yeast – 2 heaped tsp
• 8g Sugar – 2 tsp
• 6g Sea Salt – 1 heaped tsp
• 15ml Olive oil – 1 tbsp

1. Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
2. Pour in the water and stir just until mixed in.
3. Add the oil and keep stirring until you have a nice smooth mixture.
4. Cover the bowl and allow the dough to rest for ten minutes
5. Turn out the dough onto a floured board or benchtop. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes by squishing flat, folding in half, squishing flat again and repeating. As you knead, you should find that the dough loses its stickiness and becomes more smooth and supple.
6. Split the dough into two equal lumps and shape each lump into a ball. Sprinkle the dough balls with flour and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place to rise for one hour.
7. The dough is now ready to use. Shape each dough ball into a pizza base by pressing it into shape with your fingertips or rolling out. Place each base on a floured peel or a pizza tray if preferred, add your favorite toppings and cook your on a preheated pizza stone!

TIP: If the bases keep springing back when you are shaping them, get them pressed out half way to their final shape and then leave to relax for 5 minutes before you finish shaping.
